Technology Integration Collaborative Lesson Plans

Thanks to a district staff development grant, classroom teachers, technology teachers, and media specialists were given the opportunity to collaborate in the creation of quality technology integration lessons to be used in the elementary classroom, computer labs, and media center. Each lesson was developed to support the classroom curriculum and includes a description of the lesson activities in each instructional setting.

In the table below, you will find the project grade level, outcomes, downloadable lesson plan, downloadable project sample, and the necessary software templates and rubrics when applicable.

GRADE OUTCOMES LESSON PLAN EXAMPLE
K Math Outcome:

Spatial Sense - Locate and describe placement of objects with terms such as: on, off, inside, outside, above, below, over, under, beside, between, in front of, behind, next to, top, bottom.
Title: Position Words iPhoto Book

Description: Using digital cameras, kindergartners will demonstrate their understanding of position words by constructing an iPhoto book.  Groups of students will describe their position word using a digital photo.  These photos will then be used to create a class book in iPhoto.

Grade 1 Math Outcome: Using addition and subtraction, students will solve algebraic problems.

Language Arts Outcome:
Share writing with peers and provide feedback after listening to the writings of others.
Title: "What's Inside?" Mystery Number Book

Description: After completing pre-lesson (concrete), students will demonstrate algebraic thinking in constructing a class “What’s Inside?” Mystery Number Book. The students will and explain their thinking after the final project is published.

Grade 2 Social Studies:
Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge that there are many tribes of American Indians and that they differ from each other.

Title: American Indian Nations

Description: Students will use the assigned website to complete activities in Kidspiration that cover five regional variations of American Indian cultures. (Woodland, Plains, Northwest, Southwest and Southeast)

Grade 3 Math Outcomes:
Read and interpret data from circle graphs using halves, thirds and quarters.

Collect data using observations or surveys and represent the data with pictographs and line plots with appropriate title and key.

Title: Graphing Data

Description: Each student will create a question, conduct a survey, collect and organize the data, convert the data to a graphic format such as a circle graph, line graph, pictograph or bar graph, and interpret the presentation of data.

Grade 4 Language Arts Outcome:
The students will actively engage in the reading process and read, understand, respond to, analyze, interpret, evaluate and appreciate a wide variety of fiction, poetic and nonfiction texts.

Title: Digital Book Talks

Description: Students will create a digital book talk using iMovie that promotes their favorite book choices. This project is created once students have read their book, completed a book jacket project, viewed sample book talks, and received instruction in iMovie.

Grade 5 Social Studies Outcome:

The student will describe the three branches of the U.S. government established by the Constitution, their primary functions, and their relationships.

Title: Understanding our Government

Description: After learning about the three branches of government, students will create a tri-fold brochure demonstrating their knowledge and understanding.
