Progress is being shown in the district’s efforts to construct a new fourth and fifth grade attendance center (Gene Dillon Elementary School).  The district originally planned to build the school near Bemidji Middle School, but costly traffic requirements made it impossible to build the school planned with the funds voters approved.  In December, the School Board voted to change locations and build the school near Bemidji High School on Division Street in Grant Valley Township.

A recently completed traffic study examined traffic issues along Division Street from Highway 2 to Becida Road.  The information has been shared with the Beltrami County Highway Engineer.  The school district will work with the county to address traffic congestion near Bemidji High School, especially at the Bemidji High School entrance and the Adams Avenue/Division Street intersection.  The county will take our traffic study findings and consider the recommendations in their planning process for future road improvements.
