Brenda Reed has volunteered in the Bemidji Middle School media center this past year. She comes in 3-4 days a week from about 9:00 am to noon.

We are very fortunate to have Brenda volunteer in the BMS media center to help with the many daily tasks. She checks books in and out to students, shelves books, covers books, repairs books and keeps the library neat and tidy.

She quickly develops relationships with our students. She makes excellent book recommendations to them because she is an avid reader and is familiar with may genres. The kids love working with Brenda as she is warm, caring and clearly has a passion for books and passing this love and appreciation of books to the students.

Brenda is also good at creating artistic installations in the library display cases with seasonal themes that help make the library a warm and inviting place.

In addition to all her volunteer work, she also donates many books to the BMS media center which she purchases at places like the Red Door, Goodwill, Dollar Store or garage sales. It is so appreciated and she gives our students access to a lot more books. She is just an all-around joy to have in our media center.

Thank you Brenda and Congratulations on receiving the “Lay Educator of the Year” award from Bemidji Area Schools!
