Demonstrating the effects of currents. (Mrs. Black was dressed up for Kindness week.)

Eighth grade students in Zeta pod science classes are continuing their study of oceans by learning about currents.  Mrs. Black shared with her students the story of the “Kon Tiki” expedition.  In 1947 Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl speculated that people from South America could have migrated on simple balsa wood rafts drifting on the ocean’s currents to the Polynesian islands. The students designed their own boats and tested them in the school’s swimming pool to see the effects of currents.
