Bemidji High School would like to recognize Mya Shorter as the BHS“Student of the Week” for November 26th-30th. Mya Shorter is being honored for her success in mathematics both in the classroom and with the Math League program. She has placed first the last two years at the Northern Minnesota Math Contest. Mya is captain of Math League and she is also a member or the Knowledge Bowl team and she has participated at state competitions for both. She volunteers with children’s ministry at church and she is a member of National Honor Society. Mya is a 3 year Academic Letter Winner, AP Scholar, and she received National Merit Commendation. Her hobbies include onomastics, birding, reading, piano, crosswords, going to sporting events, sailing, biking, and spending time with family and friends. Mya is planning to attend UND or NDSU to major in chemistry/biochemistry and pre-med.
