In 6th grade Social Studies students learn about Minnesota History. In Alpha Pod while learning about the 1800’s and how Minnesota land was used and purchased students learned about the judicial system as well as history.   Attorney Enger, came to their classes and explained the role of a lawyer in civil cases.   After that visit, the students held “mock trials” to determine “Who owns the Minnesota land?”    Students gathered evidence from the early 1800s stated in the text, “MN Northern Lights:  Stories of Minnesota’s Past“, organized the evidence from a lawyer’s or witness’s perspective, witnesses were sworn in, testimonies were given, cross-examinations were held and the judges made decisions.    Thank you, Mr. Enger for taking time from your work to talk with our students!
