The 28th annual Bemidji Middle School Science Fair was held Thursday, February 6th.  We hosted 45 judges including principals from MS and HS, teachers from elem. schools, National Honor Society Members from HS, BSU professors, local Doctors, business people, and other science minded community members.  We also had informational booths from: Chippewa National Forest, Beltrami County Environmental Services, Beltrami County Humane Society, Headwater Science Center, DNR, BSU Sustainability Office, and The Dive Depot.  There were over 300 6th grade projects and 170 7th and 8th grade projects displayed.  Each 6th grade pod gave out plaques to the top three projects plus medals for the next seven honorable mention projects.  Plaques were given out for 1st and 2nd place in 12 categories for the 7th and 8th grade projects.  Three Artistic awards were also given out along with the Bob Schultz Award to the top overall project; this year it was “Paving With Trash” from Kappa pod.  Thirteen students will be participating in the upcoming Regional Science Fair at Bemidji State University representing Delta, Gamma, Kappa, Sigma, Phi and Zeta Pods.
