The Bemidji Jaycees offered the opportunity for teachers in our local area to apply for a $500 sponsorship with their Adopt A Classroom Project. The organization invites all teachers to apply for this sponsorship by submitting their answer to the question; “What would you do for your classroom with $500?” Bemidji Middle School’s Denise Black, who teaches 8th grade science submitted the winning answer and this morning an entourage of Jaycees and ISD #31 administrators came to surprise Denise and her first hour students with the check. Our eighth grade science department has been collaborating with BSU this year. You may have seen other posts on our website about that. Mrs. Black says she will use these funds to enhance the BSU collaboration project with additional materials and supplies that will be used for all three eighth grade pods. So this grant will really assist the learning of 350 students! (BMS has three 8th grade pods. Each pod has a science teacher who sees 115 students each day.)
