Just before the end of the day on Monday, February 3rd we recognized the 120 students in our building who have read 500,000 words or more. There were 39 sixth graders, 39 seventh graders and 42 eighth graders.  Superintendent Lutz came and visited with the students then spoke to the assembly about his “addiction” to reading. Telling students it was the best kind of addiction they could have and that they should ALWAYS carry a book with them to read in case they had a couple of minutes while they were waiting somewhere. The students were treated to doughnuts and there were random drawings for prizes. The top two readers from each pod were recognized and each one got their choice of a book from the Book Fair.
BMS students have read 285,036,493 words! (yes, that’s almost three MILLION words!)  The goal for our media center this year is to have students check out 26,000 books, we currently have had 15,888 books checked out, so we are over half way to our goal! Thank you Mr. Pfleger and Mrs. Berg for helping students find good books and making our Library inviting and current! KEEP ON READING!
