JW Smith Elementary celebrated the 50th Birthday of Sesame Street with a full day of fun.  Students rotated to different academic stations all day, all with a Sesame Street theme!  Stations included: Music and Movement to Sesame Street, Guest readers of Sesame Street books in the Library (Police Dept, Fire Dept and District Staff), Oscar the Grouch game in PE, Sesame Street around the World where students learned about different versions of Sesame Street, just to name a few.

We ended our special day with music by Corey Medina and Brothers!  The band played for Kindergarten and 1st graders and then 2nd and 3rd graders separately, where he told his inspirational story.  Corey really connected with our students as he talked about being bullied and also being the bully and how he changed his life.  Our students think he is AWESOME!!

Many local businesses supported our Sesame Street Celebration as well.  Thank you to those who helped feed the staff and guests for our special day: Jimmy Johns, Raphael’s Bakery, Erbert’s and Gerbert’s, Bunkhouse, Slims, Bemidji Town and Country Club, 1st National Bank and JW Smith PTO.
We cannot wait to celebrate Sesame Street next year for their 51st Birthday!!
