Our February District Staff Spotlight brings us into the halls of Bemidji High School, more specifically the Athletic Wing!
Our spotlight this month is on BHS’s very own Jackie Stoffel.Jackie hails from Inver Grove Heights and was a starter for the Spartan’s girls hockey program in the 7th grade, Jackie transferred to South St. Paul the following season where she contributed to 3 STATE Championships for the Packers before moving her talents North to Bemidji State University!
However, Jackie hasn’t always seen success, she currently is on a 20 game losing streak in foosball to her husband and BHS Physical Education colleague Bryan Stoffel.
Jackie’s strengths and passions include working with Special Olympics and Unified PE. She has brought these programs to a completely different level at BHS. She has spent countless hours writing grants and organizing events to implement and improve the aforementioned programs for students.
Mrs. Stoffel recently received the coveted MNSHAPE George Hanson Award this past year!!!!
While at BHS she has piloted and developed the Unified PE program into the physical education curriculum. She has worked with and improved the opportunity and growth of the Special Olympic program. She has organized and created such activities as Special Olympics Formal and Unified Yard Games. Recently Jackie coached the Bemidji Unified Basketball team that placed 3rd in the State Tournament!
Mrs. Stoffel takes no breaks, shortly after the State Unified Basketball Tournament she dove into organizing a 2020 Polar Plunge to benefit BHS Special Olympics, I hope you will consider participating in March!
After extensive research the only weakness that can be found with BHS Star Teacher Jackie Stoffel is her choice in men!! (see line 5) Clearly, she seeks to help anyone she can, regardless of the obstacles in the way!
Jackie Stoffel CONGRATULATIONS on being chosen by your peers for the February 2020 District 31 Spotlight! You are amazing, your students are blessed to have you! ….and District 31 is pretty lucky too!
