Students from Central and JW Smith Elementary had beautiful weather Friday afternoon to participate in their fifth annual “Relay For Life” festivities. The day started off with an all school assembly to talk about how cancer touches so many lives including the family of Abe Fagerstrom, a JW Smith All-Star who lost his battle at the age of 10 in 2011. Cancer survivors were on hand to share their stories and participate in various activities.
Staff from Central and JW were good sports giving students the opportunity drop them into a dunk-tank and even duct tape to a chair. Students also took part in a variety of activities including hoola hoop races, tug-of-war, sponge relays and walking the track. $1,000+ was raised for the fight against cancer – way to go Cougars and All-Stars!
