Students from Central and JW Smith Elementary had beautiful weather recently to participate in their 7th annual “Relay For Life” festivities. The day started off with an all school assembly to talk about how cancer touches so many lives including the family of Abe Fagerstrom, a JW Smith All-Star who lost his battle at the age of 10 in 2011. Cancer survivors were on hand to share their stories and participate in various activities.
Staff from Central and JW were good sports giving students the opportunity drop them into a dunk-tank, duct tape their new art teacher Mrs. Kaucher to a chair and shave Mr. Reierson’s head! Students also took part in a variety of activities including hula hoop races, tug-of-war, sponge relays and walking the track. $1,500+ was raised for the fight against cancer – way to go Cougars and All-Stars!
