In some cases, a standard protocol intervention may not work. Teachers in RtI teams will closely monitor a student’s progress and determine the successfulness of the intervention. If an intervention is unsuccessful, teachers will select another and revise the student’s intervention plan. Or, teachers may decide to complete diagnostic testing on a student to find out more information about his/her needs before revising the intervention. Teachers will use diagnostic test information, teacher observations, standardized assessment information (MAP, MCA), and teacher judgment to match the student to the intervention best suited to his/her needs.
